How can I stop getting the new menu pop up?

  I am not fond of the new layout/design of the menu. It keeps overriding the classic menu layout. How can I permanently shut off the new design from coming up?
  I am not sure I understand the purpose of the new design. The new menu is regressive. It takes more time and more jumping around within wp to get things done with the new layout.
