how can I stop my editor opening in Visual Editor and losing all my html?
-
I blog mainly poetry and rely a lot on html formatting. If my editor opens in ‘Visual’ I lose all the formatting. It used to open automatically in ‘Text’ (preferred) but now has switched to ‘Visual’. Can I control how the editor opens by default?

Okay here’s the thing. I use 3 different browsers and none spontaneously switch from Text(HTML) editor to Visual. I have to click to switch editors. I don’t know what you are using that’s making the switch if you aren’t doing it deliberately.
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
If you are, please do these try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

thanks, again
now, usually the editor opens in whichever editor I last used; unusually today I saved a draft post in Visual Editor, and so subsequent ones open in Visual; I have since posted another post using Text Editor but it still opens in Visual when I want to edit or open new posts. Is there not something in the dashboard menu that I could tick (I thought in ‘settings’ but couldn’t find it) …?

OK; it’s because I saved a post in draft in Visual Editor – which is unusual, I usually work in Text Editor – but when I opened old or new posts they opened in Visual Editor. Frustrating. Once I finished off the draft post and published it through Text Editor, all subsequently-opened posts open in Text, and I’m happy again. Thanks to timetheif who had a go.
