How can I switch a blog form wordpress.com to wordpress.org?
-
Hi there,
I am doing my first site for a client, LaurieHardenStylist.com. I want to use a custom theme (expand2web small biz theme). I tried to set it up today, only to realize that the site needs to be on wordpress.ORG instead of wordpress.COM. I have already had the client pay to reroute the domain name (registered w/ GoDaddy). But now we need to switch to .org. Can she get a refund for the unused portion of the rerouting expense. And can you give me any insight on how to make this change easily? Thank you in advance. Please reply to deb harrison @ (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Thanks!

As long as she’s within 30 days of her upgrade purchase, she can get a full refund, unless it’s a domain registration as those are limited to 48-hours.
If you’re interested, we do offer an upgrade called Guided Transfer (available in the Store section of your blog’s Dashboard) where we take care of everything for you.
Otherwise, you’ll need to install WordPress from http://wordpress.org/ on a hosting provider. We have some recommendations at http://get.wp.com/hosting/
Once that’s done, you can move your content following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/WordPress.org has complete support and documentation sites for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress at:
