How can I turn WordPress Blogs as a Book?
-
We are a Brazilian company, named PerSe, and we are developing a system of Blog2Book like the ones Blurb, BookSmith and Blog2Print have.
All these companies are able to download the WorldPress blogs and transform them in a book. We are developing a system that the author will be able to select wich blogs and posts he want to use on their books after signing up on your website.
We already are using the Blogger API (http://code.google.com/intl/pt-BR/apis/blogger/) to download the Blogs at this system and turn them in books.
My developers couldn’t find your API, like the one of Google.
Can you help us showing were we can get this API’s?
Thanks a lot.

Also, never put an email address in an open forum. Spammers will find it and flood your inbox with spam.
-
Note also that there are two flavors of WordPress. .ORG & .COM – I would imagine that you would want to make sure your software works with both – should be the same but –

Thesacredpath,
Thanks a lot for your response.
We sent you an email asking for help, and Jorge responded and sent to us a link to the API:You can find documentation here: http://codex.wordpress.org/XML-RPC_Support
Wp.getUsersBlogs is working fine. It returns the list of blog available for the username once we have the the blog names and the respective blogids, the next step is use the blogid to obtain the list of posts, correct?
Ok, so I used the wp.getPages to do this and it didn’t work…It returns the “About” page only.
Which function should I use to get the list of posts? And with which parameters?
May you help us again?
Thanks a lot.

The documentation you linked to above in the codex is only for wordpress.ORG installs. It’s not applicable to our free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM. The differences between the two are described here > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The API key entry is here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/
If you need further help then this is the link for contacting Staff > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Timethief,
Thanks for your response.
I wrote to http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ , and they respond me:Hi,
We use the same XML-RPC API than WordPress.org. You can find documentation here:

It looks to me from your link as though the WordPress supports various APIs: Blogger API, metaWeblog API, and the Movable Type API. Maybe the functions described are only the extensions to the Movable Type API?

You might want to take a look at this: http://dentedreality.com.au/projects/phpbloggerapi/
-
Or even start here: http://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/xmlrpc.php and dig through the code.
This thread, however, is strongly leaning to the .org side of things…

tandava108 and vanillalounge,
