How can I upload a new version of a document without changing links?
-
I have inserted links to a specific document in my media library from many different pages and posts in my blog. I now want to upload a revised version of that document but keep the same link as the original document so I don’t have to find all the places where I linked to it and change every link. How can I do this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

These are the accepted file types > http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/
These are the uploading instructions > http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/As for the issue of keeping the same link as the original for the revised version I can’t help you with that. the software automatically adds a number to each new version. If you need clarity on that it will have to come from either another Volunteer or Staff.
Best wishes. -
Not only does WP.com add a number to the end of any file uploaded that already exists in the Media Library, as tt said, the year and month when the file was uploaded is appended to the file URL/location. This ensures that each file has a unique URL.
To make a long story short, I don’t think you can do it. Would be happy to learn otherwise.
