How can I upload photos as thumbnails?

    I am pretty new to wordpress.com ans chose it because of it great and sleek design. BUT, what I want to know is wether there is an easy way of uploading fullsized photos(pixels 1000×700) as thumbnails? Then be able to click the thumbnails for it to appear in full size.
    Today I upload the pictures I want to publish to http://www.photobucket.com, then choose the thumbnailoption from there by using HTML editor to puplish the photos at WordPress. It works out ok, but it is NOT a simple and quick way of doing it.
    Does the theme one chose have anything to do with it? I use the K2-Lite theme.
    Thankful for any response, as I like to publish many photos, and the work is killing me :(

    When you upload an image here at wordpress.COM, they automatically create a thumbnail, and also a medium sized image (300px wide) from the full-sized image. When you go to insert the image into the post, you select which size you want to insert as well as other various settings such as alignment and whether you want it linked to the original full-sized image. For these options to work though, the images have to be uploaded here.
