How can I use a new API key for wp.com stats?
-
Dear Support Team,
I know what is the matter if I do not have a WordPress.com blog, but I do have a WordPress.com account and a problem with it. At first I tried to contact WP.com support via the form, but there I am forced to add a WP.com blog address, so I posted it here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/363601 (Please check the moderator’s reply. That is why I ask help from you.)
Here is my problem:
I used a WordPress blog on my domain http://www.blink-182.hu/. To use Akismet and WordPress.com Stats I registered at WordPress.com with the e-mail address [Email Removed] (username: pogiiiblink182hu). With this API key I could use both plugins (as I remember). The other day I deleted my WP (the entire content of my storage) then I installed a new one. I did it because I set up a new database and db user, etc… I also changed my e-mail address, so I do not want to use the mentioned address anymore. With my new e-mail (Email Removed) I registered a new WordPress.com username (w***u) and tried to use its API key… With Akismet it works fine, but WordPress.com Stats said I have no permission, or so… I had to use my old WP.com profile (this), and with it, the Stat is working, but… I would not like to use it this way…
In this WP.com profile there is a field called Primary Blog with my website address, and it cannot be removed. I think this is why I have to use this API key instead of the new one.
I would like to ask you to delete this account or delete the connection between this account and my website. After the API key for the new account will be operational with both plugins, I would like to completely remove the old e-mail address and use only one for every WP blog related thing…
Please give me an answer… Thanks in advance for your help.

Please reframe from posting email addresses in the public forum because spam bots will harvest the emails for their dirty work. So I went ahead and removed the email for you.

@timethief “At first I tried to contact WP.com support via the form, but there I am forced to add a WP.com blog address” — It means I cannot contact them unless I have an example.wordpress.com blog.
@t3ck I don’t care about spam bots, because the mentioned address isn’t going to work after you solve my problem… :)
WordPress.com Stats + the API key of my (unused) profile + my domain/blog — these are connected, that’s the problem. I don’t wanna use this profile anymore, but the Stats (with another API key – I’ve got the key – on the same blog).

@pogiiiblink182hu You may not care about the spam bots but I still had to remove the email because staff ask us moderators NOT to leave any emails in the forum threads when we come across them.
