how can I use my www.words2go.com domain name on wordpress.com?
-
I have a website http://www.words2go.com and want to map it to WordPress.com. I tried creating a new blog called words2go.wordpress.com so I could map it, but that address is already taken. I want to access and host my http://www.words2go.com website on wordpress.com and have the address as words2go.com. I’ve read through your help files, but am unsure how to proceed.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you use domain mapping, then the underlying wordpress name is masked so is of no matter to what it is called.

Hi 1tess
thanks for your help. When i go to create my new blog wordsgo.wordpress.com (so that I can map my existing domain) a get a message saying that address is already taken. So what’s the best way to set up words2go.com on wordpress.com? -
As I said, your underlying address is irrelevant. You could try leaving a comment on the wp.com site words2go.wordpress.com to see if she will transfer that name to you: it looks like a few years since she posted anything. But!! If you have the domain name, you don’t really need the wp.com name to match.
Domain mapping is like buying a sign on the road that will say to search engines and readers “Hey!! This is the way to Words2go.com!!! go over here!!! —>>>” The actual name of your WordPress.com blog does not show up. People will see the name “Word2go” on your house and never know that it’s something else.
(your current address will still work though: http://words2goinfo.wordpress.com —it’s just that people won’t see it in the url)
Wp.com won’t take the name you want from a user, nor will it recycle any name:

Okay! Now I get it! (at long last!)
So I can keep my words2goinfo.wordpress.com and set up a new blog called abcdefg.wordpress.com, which will point to words2go.com after the domain mapping.
Cool – thanks!
