How Can I Use Old WordPress Theme?

    So, sometimes when I want to read a wordpress blog (wordpress.com), I found some that are still using the old themes that look really simple and I am falling in love with the designs.

    Unfortunately, my new wordpress blog is not showing me those theme options in my account except the ones that look too modern to me while I will only need to use the simple old theme.

    Can anybody please tell me how could my new blog that I created some days ago will be possible for that? Please :( I don’t really feels the current designs as what I need and I am sorry for telling you that.

    Please kindly help me how can I deal with this for a new wordpress.com blog since I can’t turn back the time and registered a new account where all the simplicity were still available.

    Hi,

    Every theme available for a specific site may be found at My Site(s) > Design > Themes. Retired themes won’t be included unless the site was created before the theme was retired. The rules, according to the most recent information I’ve received from WP.com staff:

    • Free themes – You may activate any retired free theme on a site created before the theme was retired.
    • Premium themes – You may activate any retired premium theme on a site created before the theme was retired, unless you previously activated that theme and then switched to another theme.

    If in your travels you find a WordPress.com site that has a theme that isn’t present in your themes showcase for a specific site, then it may be using a retired theme that isn’t available to you. If you identify a specific theme that you prefer, then I’ll tell you if I have an old inactive site that I may transfer to you so that you may use that theme on it.

    Hi there, hope you don’t mind me adding to this discussion.

    Most of the currently available free WordPress.com themes https://wordpress.com/themes/free have been around for quite some time, with the exception of the newest 18-20 themes that were specifically created for the new Block Editor. (Since your above site is very new, the Block Editor is activated by default.)

    As @musicdoc1 mentioned, can you give us the name of a specific theme or point us to a WordPress.com site where you saw a theme you’d like to use?
