How can I use theme Zoren in languages when it doesn't support their characters?
-
Dear Sir or Madam,
I have a problem with using the theme Zoren for my WordPress blog because it does not support letters either in Hungarian – such as ‘ő’ – or in Esperanto – such as ‘ĉ’. (My plan is to blog in those languages.) I have contacted the creators of the theme but they said ‘I see that you are using WordPress.com network. The themes used on WP.com is managed by WordPress itself. Unfortunately we cannot assist you with it, as we do not have the access. Please contact the wp.com support center.’. (Earlier they told me ‘The fonts used on Zoren theme should support such glyphs. Please give me the url to your site. I will check it.’ and then it came to the fact that I am using .com.)
I would really appreciate any help related to the problem because I would love to use this theme – and my boyfriend as well, also in Esperanto – but now I can not.Yours faithfully,

Hi Ditta,
I’d be happy to investigate this for you. However, I just checked your blog at http://aeldona.wordpress.com/ in both Chrome and Firefox and I’m not seeing the issue you mentioned.
Could you send a direct link to a post or page where you’re seeing the problem? It could also help if you make a screenshot of the problem you see. You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy. Thanks!

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for your help! :) I use Firefox and I see the problem at the ‘posted at’-‘posted by’-etc. part (in Esperanto) and at the titles (in Hungarian). Link here: http://snag.gy/rroYG.jpg
As you see, in the word ‘afiŝita’ the special ‘ŝ’ is bolder than the other letters. It is not so easily recognizable but once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it… In the title the letter ‘ő’ is bolder – I think you won’t have any problem to see it (unfortunately).

Hi Ditta,
Thank you for the screenshot — I see what you mean now. Unfortunately, this is a limitation in the font that the Zoren theme uses, and since it’s a font issue it isn’t something we can fix. However, if it helps I can confirm that this depends on the browser and operating system you use. For example, on my computer (running on Mac OS X) it doesn’t appear as bold as that!
