How can I write a meta-description without the plugin tool?

  For wordpress, there are a couple of seemingly good plugins for meta-description. since I don’t have a plugin tool in my dashboard, I wonder how I could use them or find another way of opimizing (SEO) my blog.

  Hi David,

  As you mentioned, plugins are not available at WordPress.com. As far as SEO goes, you will not be able to add a meta-description like you mention. However, we take care of all SEO work for you and make sure your blog is optimized as much as possible. You can read more about this here:

  hi! thanks for your immediate answer, although I was anxious that you’d reply the way you did. I would be happy to have more options, even though I understand this is not possible. but honestly, only posting the beginning of my post in the meta-description on google search, is not what I would do!
  two more questions:
  what is this conceptional abstract thing on the starting page in the dashboard for? is it shown somewhere? and then: there is another possibilty in wordpress to start a blog, with all the plugin-options, right? if yes, I’d prefer this one, since in general, I am very much satisfied with wordpress.

  I’m not entirely sure what Dashboard element you’re referring to. Could you specify a bit more?

  Of course! You can definitely setup a self-hosted version of WordPress that allows you to install plugins. We have a guide setup here:

  You will first need to purchase hosting for your site and install WordPress.org software as indicated by the guide linked above.
