How can my readers see when I write a post?

    How can my readers receive an e-mail when I write a post?

    I’m sorry but this feature has not been introduced as yet but they can become rss subscribers instead. It’s always a good idea to use the forum search box when you have a question. In this case I typed in “email notification” and found many threads like this one http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=427&replies=5

    Any other old timers wonder why folks just don’t start a mail list when it comes to questions like this? Sort of the “I’m sending an email and making a phone call to see if you have received my fax” joke.

    Although I’m no “old timer”, I’ve wondered the same thing myself. Anyone who can post to a blog knows how to send a group email, don’t they? Anyone who blogs knows how to subscribe to an rss feed, don’t they? And faithful readers don’t need to be prompted, do they? {she scratches her head}

    Since everyone seems to be making jokes at your expense rather than actually answering your question (:-P) I’ll help! Go to http://www.Feedburner.com . Once you create a username etc. you can then set up a feature like the one you are looking for. You can post the link in your blog and have your readers subscribe by email. Each day you post something, an email goes out to your subscribers.

    I wasn’t making any jokes at the blogger’s expense and neither was drmike. You see the link I posted is to a thread wherein drmike explains how to get a feedburner account and have friends subscribe to it.
    Also did you know that drmike says by using the “www” in any url you guarantee that 30% of those using the web cannot access the associated url and that some search engines will not acknowledge it?

    timethief, that’s ‘www’ along with another name where it is. Not just used by itself. fwd did it correctly.

    fwd, you’ll note that TT did answer the question posed in the second post to this thread. Maybe you should read the thread you post in next time, ok? If you want, we could have told the poster to do a search since we’ve asked this question many times in the past over and over again. There’s even a FAQ on the subject already.

    My question still remains though. If you’re going to make a mail list for your blog, why not just make a mail list period?

    And if they use an IM with mail checking, then you’re having that check your inbox to see if you have an email letting you know that a website has been updated. Many steps needed instead of opening up a browser window and taking a looksee.

    Regards,
    -drmike

    Correction noted but now I’m kind of confused on this because the feedburner link I posted works fine and what I did was cut the “www” right out of it. It was like this http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/aboutrss and I made it into this http://feedburner.com/fb/a/aboutrss
    Can you help me sort this please? I don’t really understand when the “www” needs to be there and when it doesn’t.
