How can others locate my blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t know how to alert my friends to the blog – I don’t know its web address. I consulted the forum for a poss answer but this did not help me. I don’t even know what is meant by wordpress.com vs wordpress.org!! I have two blogs, one private and one public. The public one is the one I wanted to let some people know about.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Answered by myself!! OK so I think I now know the web address or url or whatever it’s called – it is in the question above!

The real issue is that I want to change the name of the blog – my understanding when I began the blog was that it’s name was Some Experienzes, but somehow that’s not the case. How do I change it?

This is the URL or blog address
    http://mags49.wordpress.com/
This is the Site Title (blog name)
    some experienzes
    This is the optional Tagline
Is a wee blog the new post card?

Note that the site title and blog address URL do not have to be the same. The Site title and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General
    “save changes”
That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed.

You cannot edit any URL. If you want to change the blog address ie. the URL starting with http:// then you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to do that and the URL you desire must be available. If so then you can change the URL by using this guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

Many thanks for this. I have managed to find settings and to change the tag line: this is progress!

However, having read through the support text you pointed me to, I am unclear about being able to change just the mags49 bit – that’s all I want to change. Can I do just that? Assistance appreciated!

I just had to get on with it then, and make a change even though I don’t understand what I am doing….

I now have three blogs, and would like to delete the now empty one, still titled ‘some experienzes’ with old url of mags49…. and now showing no posts. Can I do that and retain safely the one I do want? Or would it be better to just call the mags 49 one private? Can’t see how to do that though!

A blog is a web site. The two are the same thing. Every blog is an independent website. It matters not how many are registered under the same username account because deleting one blog has ZERO affect on any other blog.

You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to delete the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
