How can people follow my blog without visiting it?
-
I’m confused by how people are following my blog without actually visiting it. I have had 3 new followers today yet none of them actually came onto my blog. I don’t have Facebook or anything, just this blog so how are people able to follow it this way? And why would they follow a blog they haven’t even seen? This is giving me a headache trying to figure it out. Any clues appreciated thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Easily. Every WordPress blog has RSS Feeds and anyone can subscribe to a public blog. There are several different ways that readers can start following your blog. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/following/

Please also see > email notifications > http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/ and follow blog widget > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/

I appreciate those links @Timethief and i don’t wish to be annoying but this still doesn’t explain how people are following my blog without actually coming onto my blog to click the follow button in the first place. The RSS feed and email widget are also on the blog itself. I’m driving myself mad with this as i know for certain they have not been on my blog as my stats remained the same today yet 3 extra followers.

They may have found your blog through one of the Reader subjects. You can follow blogs through the Reader without visiting them.
Also, if you Like a post on a blog or follow a blog yourself, the blog’s author will receive an email notification with an option to follow you in return.

The people who have followed me today are not any i have ‘liked’ (i checked their blogs). Four new followers and only one came on my actual blog to click ‘follow’. I don’t have any email followers only WP followers, and i don’t have any RSS followers either as they’d show as a syndicated view of the posts in the RSS when they first click on it, yes? I don’t understand about ‘Reader’ (the link you gave doesn’t work) but that would show in my stats too wouldn’t it, the first time they add it? and nothing has. It’s not just today, i have noticed a lot of the followers (i don’t have many which is how i can keep track!) do not come onto my blog. It just baffles me but i appreciate your reply and will just have to remain baffled as it doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you very much for your help though.

Ok, take a look at http://wordpress.com/#!/read/ and pick one of the subjects to the left, like Technology: http://wordpress.com/#!/read/topic/technology/
This is a sampling of every post from WordPress.com today that has been tagged as “Technology.” Above each post, you’ll see a link to follow each blog.
The Reader does not generate views on your blog. Therefore, followers can follow without visiting.

Ahh now i understand. Sorry for appearing dim but i didn’t understand about ‘Reader’ as i’d never heard of it, it all makes sense now, thank you for your time, and the explanations, i appreciate it.

@justheretotakenotes
To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full post I have set my RSS Feed to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading -
@Timethief i have mine set to summary already, but i don’t have any RSS followers anyway, at least i don’t think i do, but i’d better not get started on that aswell LOL Thank you for your help also on this thread, i appreciate your time trying to help me, even though my brain doesn’t understand anything technical ;)
