Your blog will eventually be indexed by search engines unless you’ve chosen to block them under Settings->Privacy.
It’s up to Google to decide when and how to include your site in search results, we have no control over that.

Google provides information and tools for webmasters, you might find further information there.

Timethief has some help on her site: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/
It can take a while for Google and such to index your site – in the mean time you should make some Posts on your site – when you make a Post WordPress calls up the search engines and tells then “I did something stop by and visit” – that will tell Google that you are alive – a site with just Pages is slow to index.

You can submit your blog to Google. The link below is a post talks about the search engines and includes the direct links to add/submit your site to Google, Bing and Yahoo. This will have your site showing in about two days. If you don’t do this your site will come up anyway in a couple of additional days. The search engines do web crawling. The post includes some nice readings (links) on the topic.

Besides submitting you URL to the serach engines, you can also submit a sitemap. I expanded the topic on a new post to include submitting your sitemap to the search engines. Sitemaps tell search engines the structure of your site and help them increase the coverage of your site.
-
Uh, all WordPress.com blogs have sitemaps already. If you’ve submitted your blog to Google, you don’t need to submit the sitemap separately.
-
I think they just want the traffic since the Post admits that submitting a sitemap for a WordPress.COM site is done automatically and thus the Post is not relevant to here.
-
Thanks for the comments. As you mention, sitemaps are a automatic thing in WordPress. I will make that clear in the post and emphasys in verifying the site with the Webmaster Tools.
-
Here is the note added:
“Note: If you are using WordPress you don’t have to worry about submitting you sitemap to the search engines. WordPress automatically sends updates to search engines every time you add, update or delete a page or make a post. You still get value from using Webmaster Tools and verifying your website and can follow the steps below.”

Yes, the question is, why did you include it in this thread? All threads on this forum relate exclusively to WordPress.com blogs, so it’s irrelevant.

If WordPress automatically submits sitemaps, how come on Google Webmaster it says no sitemap submitted?
