How can people that are not registered on WordPress receive notifications?

  My blog is mainly for friends and family to keep them updated about my experiences abroad. Now I chose WordPress because I had heard such good stories about it. Unfortunately, I received some comments from people who want to follow my blog, that they are not able to receive notifications whenever I post a new story. These people are not registered on WordPress, but would still like to get notifications. Is this possible? Could I perhaps make an e-mail list that it automatically sends it to?

  Non-WordPress.com users can follow your blog through your RSS feed: http://carliene.wordpress.com/feed/

  You can also add a subscription widget your blog’s sidebar via Appearance -> Widgets in your Dashboard. This will allow non-WordPress.com users to sign up for email notifications.
