How can visitors "like" my post without having a password?
-
Hi,
Some visitors to my site have not been able to “like” my latest post without an email address or username and a password. While I know that to like another wordpress site, we are required to sign in, but those who do not, how can they like a post without creating or having a username and password? I’ve checked my settings and don’t think I am requiring that, but may be overlooking something.
Thanks very much for your help!
Leisa

Hello there,
If you are not a Facebook member then you cannot click a Facebook “like” button, right? Well, if one is not a WordPress.com member then they cannot click the WordPress.com “like” button. -

If you have a WordPress.com account or a Gravatar account you can use the like button. http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/gravatars/
Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no WordPress.com blog can become followers and click the “like” and/or “share” buttons. Those who do not have accounts cannot use the like button. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/
Note: To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full post thereby creating a page view stat, I have set my RSS Feed for posts to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading

But if you are not a WordPress member you can click the “Follow” button, right?
If you would like a follow button to appear on the bottom right hand corner of your site for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts see here > http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2011/09/21/more-traffic-for-your-blog-with-the-follow-button/
