How can we import banner? Is it possible to hv horizontal banner in the footers?

Hi, Iam using Contempt Theme and my blog link – “http://sosolb.wordpress.com/”. I would like to use banner in the blog especially in the footers. Can anyone guide me how to use banners in the blogs. Thanks

With regard to footer links also be aware that we are not allowed to use CSS editing to hide or remove the links to the theme designer or to wordpress.com.
