How can you hide pages?

  Is there a way to hide a child pages that you don’t want to show in your drop down menu. I don’t need to remove it from my side bar widget but my tabs in my header. I would like to hide the pages and just provide a hotlink on the parent page to the child since there will be a number of pages, I don’t want the drop down menu to appear with a bunch of options.
