How check if Subscribe working on my website

  • Unknown's avatar

At first when people filled in my Subscribe form I would get an email with their email address. Now people are telling me that when they try to subscribe nothing happens (and I don’t get an email telling me they’ve subscribed). Help!

Also, I put the Subscribe form on my homepage. Should it be on my Blog page instead?

And (sorry, I’m new at all this)…when I publish a new post should it automatically go to everyone who has subscribed?
    Thank you anyone who respond!

  • Hi there,

The “Subscribe” form on your site at the moment isn’t a blog subscription form, but a newsletter signup form. All that form does is allow you to collect people’s emails, so you can add them to a mailing list for sending out newsletters.

To allow people to subscribe to new posts on your site, you need to a use a blog subscription plugin. The Jetpack plugin you have on your site has that functionality built in, but at the moment you have the Subscription module in Jetpack disabled.

To enable that, go to My Site ->Settings ->Discussion here on WordPress.com, and toggle Subscriptions to on at the bottom of that page.

Then replace the newsletter signup form on your front page with Jetpack’s blog subscription block. If someone then submits their email for the form added by that block, they’ll receive an email to confirm their subscription, and once they confirm they’ll start receiving notifications of new posts you publish.
