Hi, I just want to clarify if you’re talking about regular posts, or if you’re trying to categorize static pages. The difference between posts and pages can be found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

If you are just trying to put a page in a certain place in the menu, then you can do that with custom menus: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

You can also nest pages, so that one page appears under another in themes that just have page menus and not custom menus. For example, if you want a contact page listed under an About page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/

Example; As you see in page Weapons, sub pages, as GUNS, RIFLES, KNIVES…. I want to set these pages in current category; ASIA, AFRICA….
I have set up these categories in ” set new category” but nothing appears in Home page, but uncategorized. If I try to set an page in current category; ASIA… then it appears in both home page and ASIA.
    How to do?

I think with what you’re trying to do, you should do those items as posts instead of pages. Check the link I put in my first reply for the differences.

Then you can have your categories. You can also nest categories so you can have a Guns category under Asia for example. More on that can be found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/

Then just start creating posts for what you’d like to show up in those categories, select the appropriate category (for example Guns) under Asia. Once you do that your items will show up in the home page under the appropriate categories.

You can create a custom menu with each heading pointing to the appropriate category page as you like.

Thank you for help. unfortunately there is not the same picture. I cant find “add categories” or “edit new category” as you show up.
I have http://www.persijs.wordpress.com there is not problems with categories and post combination. Maybe this theme doesn’t accept something.
    Thank you

The reason you don’t see a category option is because you’re trying to add your content to a page, not a post. Only posts have categories. Pages are designed more for static content, stuff like about your site, privacy policies, contact info etc… that doesn’t change on a regular basis.

If you select blog post instead of pages under the publish menu, you’ll see the option to add your categories to posts.

    Hi. Thank you.
So far with Categories is understandable. When I use your recommended Blog post, i can manage with categories. But there aren’t Page Attributes, hereby, my new post Guns, shows up in Home page and in category Africa, too.
When I work with Blog Post, there is categories, but not Page attributes, and opposite,
with simple Post, – there is Page Attributes but not Categories. With it,
common links navigation, – Categories & Pages are disrupted.

    How to do?

If your theme supports it, you can then use custom menus to build your navigation links at the top of the page to you liking. You can add and organize your categories using the menus item under the “look and feel” section.
