  Plugins cannot be used at wordpress.COM for security reasons. Plugins are for self-hosted wordpress sites using the software from wordpress.ORG.

  The difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org (self-hosted) sites.

  What are you wanting to do? Sometimes there are workarounds.

  Then you need to hire a web host and set up a wordpress.org install for self hosting as you cannot have plugins on a free hosted wordpress.com blog. http://wordpress.org

  Also note that the SEO on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is excellent without any plugin use at all. Moreover, there is no SEO plugin that can beat learning basic SEO and applying it.

  @troywestgate, you could install a thousand SEO plugins and not come close to duplicating the SEO that wordpress.com site have right out of the box. WordPress has serious search engine ranking and we all share in that.

  Quit worrying about SEO and blog.
