How come when I paste captions the text appears below the image and caption?

  I’m using the new WordPress.com experience, launched a few weeks ago. I can add a caption to images in my post by clicking on the appropriate button, and I can select the caption text and type over it, but when I try to paste something (with or without formatting) the pasted text simply appears below the entire image (including the caption). How do I prevent this? My current workaround is to edit the HTML but this is tedious if I have lots of images. Is this just a bug?
