How Could Persons Subscribe to My RSS Feed?
-
That would be the RSS widget, which works but it is a little funky to use for that purpose.
This FAQ, as I mentioned several posts up, tells how to put links to your RSS feed in your sidebar: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/ .

This seems to be a hot topic for today. I too am interested in having people subscribe to my blog, per their request. I have tried several times to follow the FAQ listed above and aletorro’s response. Here is what I have typed several times, with no success. Am I mis-reading an instruction somewhere?

Okay, so the whole URL didn’t appear in my question above. Weird, since that happened several times when I tried to post it to the “text” section in widgets. Let me try one more time.

In case it doesn’t all appear, (and I thought I typed it perfectly from the FAQ page) my blog is haveanopinion.wordpress.com

@haveanopinion, This is the code for http://haveanopinion.wordpress.com/
<a href="http://haveanopinion.wordpress.com//feed"><img src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a64.png" alt="" /> </a> PostsYou can change the “Posts” at the end to whatever you wish, or remove it if you don’t want any identifying text after the symbol.

Thank you thesacredpath for displaying the proper code for @haveanopinion above. I’ve been banging my head trying to add the RSS Feed to the sidebar so that when people click on it, they’re able to get to the page that asks readers to subscribe to my blog.
I just copied and pasted your code to @haveanopinion, followed your instructions and everything worked out fine.
I’ve followed the instructions on the link you provided: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/ but have been unsuccessful.
Instructions on that FAQ aren’t very clear on how to do things. There also might be an error with the code. Looks like there’s one backslash missing on the older FAQ instructions (following your blog’s name)
Your instructions are better. This other one you referred to needs a little revision.
Thanks.

I think we’re getting close, thesacredpath. I copied and pasted your copy as written. Yes, I can now see the logo, but when you click the link to subscribe this message pops up. I saw the exact same message on vino808guy’s blog. It’s a security warning, that asks if you want to save or open the feed. You can see it on both our sites to see it.
I am so thankful for your help so far and hope to get this working soon. Thanks. C

Oops, double posted somehow.
@haveanopinion, I don’t get the warning on vino’s blog, nor on yours. I’ve never seen that warning before.

Hi thesacredpath – Thanks for the link… Works like a charm…. I am so glad I can do this now.
Two more questions –
1) How do I get rid of that ugly frame?
2) Where can I find the other graphics? Thanks, Sylvia
-
2) The other button graphics for the RSS icon ar at http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/
1) try putting the “style=border:0;” as I have it below the img and src
<a href="http://haveanopinion.wordpress.com//feed"><img style="border:0;" src="http://faq.files.wordpress.com/2006/11/a64.png" alt="" /> </a> Posts -
There needs to be a space between the end of img and the code, and between the code and src. like this
img style="border:0;" src= -
Thanks again, The Sacred Path. Nice blog, by the way
That code got rid of the border nicely. It’s now more professional looking. I might make it smaller later.. BUT…I am now going to cook dinner (yep, still a mom), then to PTSA and then back and check out your other button graphis… Will be back..
Thanks!

You’re welcome and thanks for the compliment. The CSS on my blog is about ready for a redo – at least the colors. I’m getting tired of what I have now and spring is just around the corner.
