How did all these extra words start appearing in this URL???

  Hello lovely wordpress folk,

  Anyone have any ideas for why all these weird extra words are appearing in this URL? I don’t think it was always this way.

  The slug is ‘social security disability’? What’s all this other stuff?

  I do have another page called ‘twenty videos etc etc’ but it’s a different page, how did it get here? How can I get rid of it? It’s weird!

  Hi sleepiergirl,

  I was able to reproduce this issue at my end. Here’s what I did.

  1. I create a page and Named it “our team”
  2. Then I created another page “Testslug” and set its attribute to “our team” from Page attribute option on Page settings.
  3. Then I visited my testslug site and the URL comes out to be https://freetestingsitesite.wordpress.com/our-team/testslug/
  This means that testslug is a subpage or a sub-post which is listed under our-team page
  4. Then I trashed/deleted the out-team page and refreshed the testslug page’s URL.

  Here is what I got as URL – https://freetestingsitesite.wordpress.com/our-team__trashed/testslug/

  Please observe, there is “trashed” word present in URL. Till now I did not delete our-team page permanently.

  5. Next step, I deleted it permanently and refreshed the URL again and now it says https://freetestingsitesite.wordpress.com/testslug/

  Coming to conclusion,

  You should have a page named “twenty-videos-every-person-with-me-should-watch(this is slug)” then you created another post/page named “social-security-disability” and set its page attribute to “twenty-videos-every-person-with-me-should-watch”. Then you must have removed the page which resulted into this URL for your “social-security-disability” post https://howtogeton.wordpress.com/twenty-videos-every-person-with-me-should-watch3__trashed/social-security-disability/

  To get rid of these extra characters, delete “twenty-videos-every-person-with-me-should-watch” from trash and refresh the page.

  You can find all your trashed content here, https://wordpress.com/pages/trashed/howtogeton.wordpress.com
