How did people find my blog??
-
Hi Everyone!
I opened my first blog, internetmarketing4noobs.wordpress.com, late last month in December 06, and have not market my blog in any way.
But recently I experienced a sudden spike in visitors.
On 4th Jan there was around 5 visitors according to the stats counter.
On 7th Jan there was a jump of 53 visitors!
How did that happen? Not that I am complaining though, just like to know more on blog marketing.
Anyone got any ideas?

Google or other search engines now know about your site, wordpress tags/categories system.
Just two that I can think of from the top of my head.

Here are some tips on blog promotion from our Moderator drmike http://pimpmyblog.wordpress.com and here’s what not to do blog snobbery 101 – a truly excellent blog entry can be found at http://arapehlivanian.com/2006/05/22/blog-snobbery-101/

I read that article and was a little worried until I came to “A blog snob doesn’t come out and say “Hey, look at me! I’m super-important!”” Whew! I’m no blog snob: I say that all the time!

I myself am brand spanking new to this place. I’m just wondering if I can read more blogs than the best of. I would like to browse everyone. (although EVERYONE would be very time consuming)

You can: just use the tag pages and you’ll find everyone who posts on a particular topic. And you can always use the “Next Blog” button at the top of your screen when you’re signed in.

ARgh!!
Kai2810 here.
My blog is suspended! DrMike, can you allow me to at least recover the content?
After your post in this thread, I have been looking for alternatives at Blogger.com or to buy a hosting service for my WordPress account for the entire morning.
But when I came back, my blog was suspended!! Please give me some time to buy a new host for my blog and get it set up.
But I do not have any experience hosting websites, so PLEASE give me at least a week to get things done and allow me to recover my content?

You need to contact support by using the feedback form. Dr. Mike didn’t suspend your blog; he’s a volunteer who helps in the forum. Support might be able to get you the archives of your blog.
For future reference, once you get a warning like that, it’s probably prudent to strip the ads from the blog before doing anything else.

Thanks raincoaster!
Just submitted the feedback. Its the one using the Contact Support right?
This is really shocking…really did not realize this, and my blog was suspended while I was trying to find alternatives??
Hope they allow me to recover my content…or my work is all gone :( :( :(

Yes, Contact Support is the way to go. Good luck. My guess is you’ll probably get all the content back.
Absolutely, violations of the Terms of Service, particularly advertising or copyright violations, are fatal to blogs on WordPress.com, and that fairly quickly, as you’ve seen. I almost lost my blog as well over a copyright issue months ago. YouTube killed the video, I linked to the original owners’ Mentos and Diet Coke vid on Revver, and all was well. But I was offline when it hit, and didn’t get an email about it, so I really had no idea until I trolled through the comments and realized that if YouTube hadn’t killed the video, my blog could have gone down before I even had a chance to delete the offending post. You had more warning than that, thanks to Dr. Mike.
Yes, blogs will be suspended while you’re looking for alternatives. All blogs violating the terms of service are subject to suspension.

Thanks raincoaster for pointing me in the right direction.
How will they inform me that I can recover my stuff? They will send me a email?
-
Yes, they generally respond to requests like that via email, so keep your eyes out for it and also check your spam file, because sometimes emails will end up in there.
-
Gotta admit that I was surprised that your blog got suspended. That was the only affliate link I saw in the entire blog. All the rest of the links were just standard links.
But, as stated up above, I’m not staff and I don’t have access to what goes on among them. They may have seen something else.
