How do a revert to an earlier version?
-
Autosave updated my site page and I can’t figure out how to revert to the previous version. When I go to ‘history’ the last saved version is over a year old. I don’t want that, Ive mad many revisions in that time. I just want the most recent version which was minutes before autosave took it from me. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the link, unfortunately, the most recent saved revision for that page is from September 2017. Could you tell us a bit more about your process of trying to save your recent changes? For example, information such as what browser you were using and the changes made could help us track down what caused the revision to be lost.

I was on my iPhone trying to cut a sentence from the WordPress page so I could paste it somewhere else, the wordpress autosave saved my cut, there was no “back” arrow available to go back, and when I pasted elsewhere the paste wasn’t what I had cut.
I really appreciate your efforts.

To clarify, did this occur with the WordPress app or through a mobile browser?
If using the app, please go ahead and click the help link with in the app directly. This will provide us with some back end information that could help figure out what happened.

I hate to be the bearer of bad new but think the post revision may be gone :(
I did just have another thought though, have you checked the History tab from the web? If you were copying from an older page its possible that the revision date is older but all the content is here.
Have a look and let us know.

I don’t understand what you mean, “from the web.” I’ve used my iMac and accessed WordPress from a browser there. The most recent history is from 2017, September, I believe. Is that what you are referring to?

That is what @bdukes meant, yes.
If the revision at https://kentlalley.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=10020 does not contain your most recent content, then I’m afraid there’s nothing else we can do in this case – no version more recent than that exists on our servers, and as the page is an unpublished draft there’s also no cached versions that exist online.

Not good news.
I guess I’ll need to figure out why my revisions are not being saved.
I’m using a browser, so it’s not an app issue.
Thank you flr all of your assistance. -
Please see if clearing the browser cache makes any difference. If this is on a mobile device, please also periodically restart it to flush its internal connection cache.
Beyond that, make sure to always explicitly tap save/update (depending if it’s a draft or published post/page) before leaving the editor. The indicator at the top must say Saved, not Save or Saving.
