how do a stop a deleted blog from appearing in google?
-
deleted a blog but it still appears on google. i deleted “northshorexhibitioncentre” and kept “shore.exhibitioncentre”.
anyone who googles “shore exhibition centre wordpress” comes up with the deleted blog first. this is a HUGE problem for us as we’re trying to get things off the ground and need to go public with our advertising soon!!!

You can contact google and ask (and also Yahoo, Bing, and all other search sites) or you can just blog on the new URL and wait. Search engines generally remove deleted blogs in about six months. The more you blog on the new URL, the faster it climbs in the ranks.

a) Google asks not to bother them with this unless it’s something crucial such as accidental disclosure of confidential information.
b) The deleted blog was only a couple of weeks old or so, and you hadn’t posted much on it, so if you post regularly on the new one, as raincoaster suggested, I guess the new blog will quickly outrank the other one. (Am I right, rain?)
c) You shouldn’t have deleted the older blog: you should have added a note on the front page, with a link to the new blog.
d) Advertizing? What advertizing? -
thanks for the quick replies!
it’s a really tricky situation as we’re a not-for-profit group who need to do some public consultation across the city we live in to get private investment, and support from local council. as such we can’t put money into a proper website… it wont function as a proper blog, so will be tricky to update, but i get what you mean so will have to get creative, i guess..d) small scale print advertising.

b) you’re right.
http://shoreexhibitioncentre.wordpress.com/ will not be difficult to update if you go through http://learn.wordpress.com first.
