How do authorized users access a private members-only blog?

I’m putting together a members-only blog for a professional association. The entire blog will be private. From documentation and posts I’ve been able to find, I gather that members will not require an actual “password” to access the blog – but each will need to create their own wordpress account. Then, each must give me their individual wordpress account ID because that is what I need to add under Settings> Privacy> Add User. What I have not found anywhere is how authorized users then access our private blog. Do they have to log into their wordpress account in order to view the private blog? …or do they simply type in the blog’s url (e.g. blogname.wordpress.com) in their web browser? …or ???

Many thanks! …I need to provide accurate instructions for association members but can’t find this info anywhere.

  • The users will simply need to log into their WordPress.com accounts over at https://wordpress.com

After this, they can simply load your blog’s URL directly into their browsers. If they are logged into an account that is added to your blog from Settings -> Privacy, they will be able to view the blog.
