how do get people to actually want to read what you have to say?

just started blogging yesterday and i want to get people to read my blog and give me some feedback… but i dont really want my friends to read what i have to say so i really dont want to link it to my facebook or twitter page. thanks

Odds are good that if you are posting to a public blog on the internet, eventually one of your friends or family will find it, especially if they are the type of friends or family who would look for such things.
If you want to be sure your friends/family do not see it, set your blog private. You can than manually invite people to see it (but given you don’t want your friends to see it, not sure who you’re thinking you want to read your blog, strangers?)

Use proper punctuation and grammar; it’s writing, not texting. Write about interesting things. Use tags and categories judiciously.
Do a forum search: there are thousands of tips already here.
If you want to maintain privacy, don’t tell anyone about it and use a pseudonym and different email account. Don’t use people’s real names when you talk about them, because they DO google themselves and they will find it and figure out who you are.

One way to get people to read what you want to say is to pick up a recent hot news topic and write what you think about it.
I know, most people do the same thing, and often get negligible page views. The trick here is to write something unique.
E.g. “10 reasons why Glenn beck is wrong for America”

One thing to keep in mind. You really can’t make anyone read what you have written. Write about your chosen subject or passion, tag and categorize it appropriately and then those that are interested and come across your stuff in the search engines and wordpress.com global tags pags and such will click through and take a look. This is a pretty good document on getting more traffic and views.

I’m not interested in reading blogs where the writer deliberately doesn’t make an effort to use grammar and punctuation at all. It takes too much effort to read for simple topics, which is abit absurd. I have no problems with occasional errors.
Also the international reading audience does not have the best grasp of the English language. So be thoughtful to them also, so that you will get the broadest audience possible world-wide.
