How do I accept a new user for my private blog?

How do I accept a new user for my private blog? I invited someone. They accepted by email. But under my Users section it says my response is “waiting” and I can either resend or delete. I’ve already re-sent it and the person accepted again. Help!

@cathy12342014 – Did the user you invited to your blog already have a WordPress.com account setup? If so, can you provide the username?
If they did not, can you have them sign-up for a WordPress.com account here?

Then, after they create an account, can you try resending the invitation?

Thanks Jeremy. The user does have a WordPress account and has logged into her account at WordPress.com. (I am hesitant to put her username in a public forum.) I would really appreciate some help with this from a staff member. Thanks in advance!

Not to worry as he will come back to this thread to help you. I don’t know why you are reluctant to post a username. Without posting it how will Staff know which one of the millions it is?

While I don’t have an answer for you, we are having a similar problem. Our blog is https://fmrrc.wordpress.com — the owner of the blog tried to add me as editor (userid pascandura) via invite. He’s tried twice now and I’ve accepted twice (yes I have an account) but it still showing “waiting” on his invite screen and I can’t get the blog to show up on My Sites page.

Well, I just stumbled upon the answer (at least for my problem, maybe it will help you too Cathy). The user you are trying to add must ALREADY BE LOGGED IN to WordPress BEFORE clicking on the Accept button in the invitation email. So have them open up a browser session and log in to WordPress (perhaps even click on the “leave me logged in” check box when as they do). Then have them click Accept in the email. That should do the trick – it did for me.

Thanks to both timethief and pascandura. Your solution helped partially. The person I invited is now accepted, but when she clicks on my blog page it shows the background of my blog, but not my post. The post area says Not Found.

Also, under the All Users section it still doesn’t list her as a user. I tried making a new post and it still wasn’t visible to her. Thanks.

@pascandura – Thanks for the additional details here. Being logged into WordPress.com when you accept the invitation does seem to help in this case. Can you let me know if your particular situation is sorted out?
