How do I access the "classic" posting and editing page?

I used to be able access the old, more usable editing page (before the “beep beep boop” version). Now I can’t get to it through the My Site/Blog Posts path as I always have.

The new editing page seems to have less functionality and it automatically puts my images at the top of the post. Is the old, superior editor still available or is this a permanent downgrade?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am afraid that this “downgrade” is permanent. Somewhere in April last year the Beep Beep Boop idiocy was introduced. So many members requested that at least the classic editor would stay up, from the left hand sidebar, accessed through “blog posts” that this request was rewarded. But as you can guess it was just postponing the execution. And so the classic editor has now been axed, nuked, wiped. End of story. We are saddled with an editor suitable for kiddies. To match the “Beep” and the “Boop”.

Oh wait, someone posted a work around in a different thread, although I have not tried it yet:

Well, I tried it out now, and the workaround mentioned in that thread does not work for me.

I also have a problem with the new editor.
Where do you change the status from active to draft?
How do you list posts from a certain category?

I’ve got serious problems with the new editor. Try as I might, I can’t get it to do what the old editor did. I was using a workaround to access the old editor, the the coders seem to have found it. Now I’m just stuck with the new one that only half works. Please bring back access to the old editor.

I agree that the old editor is much better, and I add my voice to those vehemently complaining that’s it’s subject to phase out. For now, I’m finding the following method still works: Use this link, but insert the name of your blog where it says yourblogname:

    https://yourblogname.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

My blog is called Ethics and Spirituality so I use this link to get to the old editor:

    https://ethicsandspirituality.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

Whatever method you use to get to the old editor, be sure and bookmark it. Hopefully it will continue to work even if WordPress keeps making it harder and harder to find. (Seriously guys, what’s next? Electric shocks for people who try to access the old editor?)

Ah that is a wonderful link to the old editor: this new one is just totally totally horrid and sometimes makes what is normally a pleasurable past time into a very tedious affair!

Fingers crossed this link to the far superior editor does not get yanked away

Thank you, dawntreader. Glad to see it’s still in there somewhere.

You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and for viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

On the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
To create posts in the classic editor for you that link is below and you change REPLACE_WITH_ ACTUAL _NAME_OF_BLOG below with your actual blog name.

    http://REPLACE_WITH_ ACTUAL _NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

On the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts one can hover over any post title and click the Edit link. and proceed with editing.

    http://REPLACE_WITH_ ACTUAL _NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

Try these links too for old the stats pages
    https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?view=table

Can anyone please tell me WHERE I can actually find the *Dashboared*? I simply cannot discover it, I must have clicked each and every link.

    Hi there,
The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

All you need to do is replace NAME_OF_BLOG with your actual blog name in the URL.

    My strong suggestion is to
    (1) memorize the dashboard link
    or
    (2) bookmark it
    or
    (3) install a meta widget in your sidebar.

Oh wait, I found the effing Dashboard, guess I overlooked the heading, it is under WP Admin in the left hand sidebar.

My goodness, this messing around with a simple editor is driving me nuts. And what really gets me, is that s.t.u.p.i.d. sentence:

“There’s now an easier way to create on WordPress.com! Switch to the improved posting experience.”

NO! It. is. NOT. “easier”. and. let. ME. decide. whether. it. is. “improved”. or. not.

    Arrrgh and grrrrr

You are reporting known issues in the new editor. Use the classic editor. Seer https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-do-i-access-the-classic-posting-and-editing-page?replies=14#post-2538061

    Hi Timethief!

Our posts crossed. Thank you for the links! Good stuff. I shall copy them in an email to myself and keep them safe under a special label.
