How do I add a button to allow people to subscribe to my blog?

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a ‘subscribe’ or a ‘follow’ button for readers of my blog. A lot of people have tried to follow or subscribe to it, but I have no idea how they can do it…please help!

Will you please go to Settings->Reading->Followers Settings and enable tick mark before the text that reads “Show follow button to logged out users”.

Hey there, thanks for the quick reply. I got as far as settings, but there is nowhere that I see ‘Reading’. I ended up finding it as a widget – I always have trouble finding widgets, but I think I’m slowly starting to figure out where to find things. I hope I did it right? Maybe you can take a peek at whispersinthetreesblog.wordpress.com? I really don’t know what I’m doing with the programming piece lol!
