How do I add a button to my sidebar?

There are two blog feature/award buttons that I would like to add to my sidebar. I am incredibly un-techy and once I have copied the code I have no idea what to do next.
I would really appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

If it is plain html code without forbidden tags, just paste the code into a text widget.
