how do i add a feed like feedburner tmy blog

    I have been trying all day to create widget or plug in so that I can allow people to subscribe to my page. I now have a feedburner feed (I think) but no way to invite people to use it. For some reason I cannot get it to appear on my sidebar. I have checked for permissions, files, directories, everything appears to be there; but still the widget does not appear.
    It seems that a lot of the “how to” pages are not up to date, because they describe a word press dashboard that looks nothing like the one I have which is the latest 2.7 release (I started it May 18th)
    I found another wordpress forum, and it is very busy and no one is answering questions. Surely someone knows how to do this and can help a friendly person who is just trying to share her watercolors with the world. thanks.
