How do I add a ‘like’ button to each post on my front page?

How do I add a ‘like’ button to each post on my front page? I saw https://wordpress.com/support/likes/?_gl=1*q81zm7*_gcl_au*MTIwMjUxMDk2MC4xNzUyNDE4ODQ2, but that seems to be about adding likes to pages for single posts. I already have that. I have another blog on wordpress.com that’s paid for that has a like button under each post on the front page. That’s what I want also on my new free blog.

I’m using the Twenty Twenty Five theme, because it’s the only theme I could find that’s simple without showing extra stuff and also shows entire posts on the front page rather than just the first few words. (The option I found somewhere to show excerpts vs full posts seems to have no effect.) Come to think of it, though, this template doesn’t seem to show a list of my posts on the right, at least not by default; how do I add that? I find the whole appearance editor menu very confusing.

And one more thing, is there a way to enable email notifications when people like posts that’s per blog? Because I got an email notification saying I got my first like, but I didn’t get an individual email for that like saying which blog post it was, which I do for my other two blogs.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The part that says “The blog I need help with is: exalumen.blog” is wrong. I want help for inhahereviews.wordpress.com and iyaelsorai.wordpress.com.

How do I add a ‘like’ button to each post on my front page?

    1. Adding Like Buttons to Front Page Posts:
Since you’re using a block theme (Twenty Twenty Five), go to Appearance → Editor → Templates and find your “Blog Home” or “Index” template. Edit it and add the Like block within the post content area or after each post summary. The Like button should then appear under each post on your homepage, similar to your paid blog. (as shown in the link) I tried this at my end, and it works fine.

    2- Email Notifications for Likes:
Go to My Profile → Notifications on WordPress.com and look for like notification settings. You should be able to set per-blog preferences for email notifications about likes, including which specific posts were liked.

    Hi @inhahe,

I can see that the detailed steps to add like buttons to all posts on your site’s homepage have already been shared by @himanshumehrawp above.

Please follow the steps provided in that post, and you should be able to add the like button successfully. If you encounter any issues while following the instructions, feel free to ask for further clarification here.

    Thanks @himanshumehrawp

Can someone tell me the answer to the second question – is there a way to add a list on the right of all my blog posts using the Twenty Twenty Five theme, or if there isn’t, is there a theme similar to that that’s free where you can? Thanks.

    Hi @inhahe!

It sounds like you may be interested in creating a sidebar, which you can do by following the steps in this support guide: https://wordpress.com/support/site-editor/add-a-sidebar/.

Once you have the sidebar created, you can choose which block you’d like to add to list your posts, for example, the latest posts block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/latest-posts-block/. This support guide explains how to add and customize this block.

Please let us know if you have any more questions.
