    I’m trying to find out how i replace my blog title with an image… it’s a test site i’m building before moving on to the real one! (and i’ve stumbled on the first day) Any help would be great…

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    If you do not remove your blog title from this page > Settings > General then there will be no problem with search spiders locating it and getting your content indexed.
    Twenty Eleven provides the option of having a cusom header image and hiding the blog title text > Appearance > Header
    Create a header image with your logo in it and be sure it’s the correct size before uploading it. Know that search spiders cannot read any text in oimages and only humans can read it.
    Display Text
    __ No
    __Yes
    “save changes”

    Do you mean a header image?

    This is also a link to a very helpful article on how the Twenty Eleven theme is designed to operate.

    If you want high quality images you will never rely on the WordPress.com cropper as using it will result in loss of image quality. Prior to uploading any image into your blog you will optimize and presize every image in either a desktop image editing software or online image editing software to fit the space you intend to use it in, regardless if it’s a header image, or an image in a post, page or sidebar. Doing that means you will also not be wasting your space for images and other media or experience any problems with images that you must troubleshoot to correct.

    If you perfer you can upload your image and display it an image widget or a text widget and place it at the top of your sidebar.

    I am in the process of setting up our blog (so I can’t show you visually yet), but I am using Twenty Eleven and have done just that. If you are trying to add a logo where the title text is (not the full width picture area), you can do it this way:

    1. Upload the logo (no more than 200px high including some buffer space) to the Media Library
    2. Once uploaded, it will generate a URL. You will have to go back and copy this later (or paste in a document somewhere handy).
    3. Go to Appearance/Custom Design then click on Edit in the Custom CSS box
    4. Paste this code into the CSS Stylesheet Editor:

    #branding {
    background:url('URL OF YOUR LOGO') no-repeat;
    }

    #site-title {
    margin-left:9999px;
    overflow:hidden;
    }

    #site-description {
    margin-left:9999px;
    overflow:hidden;
    }

    5. Copy the logo URL from the Media Library or the document where you made note of the URL, then paste in the CSS Editor where it says URL OF YOUR LOGO.

    Hope this helps!

    Next–to get it to link to the blog itself.

    @mohawkjba
    Did you notice that this thread is in the Support Forum and not the CSS Forum? The person who started this thread rachellekendall has not stated she has the custom design upgrade and I see no evidence of CSS Editing on her blog.

    Nope, sure didn’t. Thank you ma’am! Guess you’re the one being paid to split those hairs. Info is info to us users–if it helps, I don’t think they care what thread it’s in. I’m all about the customer service.

    Hello there,
    I’m not a Staff member and I’m sorry you chose to feel defensive. I have been volunteering to answer questions on these forums for almost 6 years. If voluntarily answering over 1000 pages of threads this not about delivering service then I don’t know what it is. lol :D

    I do have some CSS experience, but limited wordpress exp (so haven’t found where to locate the CSS!) haha..

    What i would like to do is remove where it says my blog title and replace it with my logo… which sounds like what mohawkjba has done. I’ll try and find the CSS option and see how it goes! =)

    Hello there,
    Here are relevant links to the information on purchasing the annually renewable custom design upgrade and doing the required CSS editing. Please be sure to read this section > http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

    @TT: Seems we’re having an influx of first-time visitors who feel an urge to play smart…

    @mohawkjba: The correct reply to rachellekendall’s question is that in the theme she’s using you cannot put an image in place of the actual blog title except if you have the Custom Design upgrade. If she doesn’t, she can only do what timethief suggested. If she told us she does have the upgrade, then we’d advise her to post her question in the CSS forum, or ask a moderator to move the thread to that forum, because that’s where users looking for CSS tips expect to find CSS tips.

    Timethief, you’re awesome for all the time you have put into volunteering. I seriously thought you were staff and being paid to direct people to the correct forum thread!

    I looked for the same thing on all forums and couldn’t find it so posted what worked for me (feeling empathy for another first timer).

    Not to worry and it’s cool that the CSS solution was posted. In the future those who use the searchbox witll be able to locate this thread. And as the OP now has both solutions, ie. with and without the custom design upgrade, I have flagged this thread so it gets moved to the CSS Forum.
