How do I add a new post under a specific menu tab?

When I write a new post, it simply posts it to the main front page. I want the new post to go under a specific menu tab but am unable to find how to do that. Will you please explain to me the process to categorize a new post under a specific tab?

    Hi,
Review the settings of your menu. To do this, hover over My Sites -> Menus. Select your desired menu and click Select. You’ll notice you have three types of items you can add to your menu: Pages, Custom Links, Categories. Click Categories and select the category you want to add to this menu. Click Add to Menu.
Then make sure that whenever you write a new post you add the respective category.

    @ savorthesouth,
    Hi,

Here’s an alternative to the method described by carladoria, using the classic Menus page rather than the corresponding page at My Sites. I presume the menu items Main Dishes, Sides, Cocktails, Desserts are in a custom menu. That’s a good first step, but the links aren’t properly formed. Delete them from the menu. Then do as follows:

    1. Assign each post to one or more categories, including the categories Main Dishes, Sides, Cocktails, and Desserts.
    2. Use the Categories module at the left of the Menus page (https://savorthesouth.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php) to add selected categories as menu items in a custom menu. These will appear in the “Menu Structure” area.
    3. Drag and drop any subcategory items below and slightly to the right of top level categories.
    4. Save the changes.
    5. At the bottom of the Menu Structure, under Menu Settings, place a check at “Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu.”
