how do I add a purchased domain wordpress.com site to my wordpress.org admin?

  Hi there,

  I recently purchased the domain from wordpress, ‘lensesoflex.com’. I have just set myself up on the wordpress.org site (database and all) and would like to move my´lensesoflex.com´ website to it but I don’t understand how. When I go to my wordpress.org admin site, it has ´lensesoflex.wordpress.com’.

  At the very least, I want to keep my theme and domain which I purchased.

  Hi Alexa,

  You can keep the domain registered with us and just point the nameservers to your new host for your WordPress.org site with these steps:

  Change a Domain’s Name Servers

  You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

  Just note that this means your domain is still registered through us and just hosting elsewhere. So you would need to keep the registration renewed yearly with us in addition to your new host. After 60 days from the date of registration you can transfer out your domain elsewhere (there is a lock placed on newly registered domains as per ICANN rules). When that time comes, the guide below explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code:

  Thank you so so so much for all your help. I am still having trouble updating the name servers from Dreamhost, but your instructions have helped me move on.

  I see that the nameservers have been updated, so try contacting your host about getting your site up and running!
