How do I add a ratings widget?

I am trying to add a ‘like’ button next to links so that everyone who visits my blog can see which pages and other links that I post up are worth visiting, which should hopefully help raise awareness of the articles that people really like. However, I am trying to avoid using the usual facebook ‘like’ button as this is annoying for people who don’t want to have to sign in or who don’t have a facebook account or don’t want their identity recorded etc. I am also trying to avoid ratings systems that include disliking or thumbs down because I have noticed that these are homed in on by trolls and people having a grump who just dislike and thumbs down everything without even reading the article in question or replying to explain why they oppose it. I have managed to track down just such a ratings system here: http://rating-widget.com/ but despite such a widget being simple and very popular I can’t find a way to put it up on my blog. When I try the ratings part does not work and the rest of the code appears as text. I’ve put a sample at the bottom of one of my pages, with the source code parameters around the coding to highlight the text in question to show you what I mean: http://fandexes.wordpress.com/codex-list/ . Now I understand that wordpress.com has its limits, but even a bravehost free account could handle something as straightforward as this, and that was terrible. Could someone who works at wordpress please let people have something as simple as a ‘like’ widget on their free account without insisting on being paid every year for such a simple tool?
