How do I add a second blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

When I am logged in and on my dashboard there is no place to add another blog. I would like to add another blog that has nothing to do with my current one. I tried to creat another from scratch, but it said that my email address had already been used. I could use another email address, but i’d rather just be able to administrate more than one blog through one sign in name. Is this not possible here? I’m new.

For now, it does not seem possible to administer more than one blog through one login/e-mail address. Hopefully, the Powers That Be will work on this for the future. For now, if you want to create a second blog, you need to do so with a different e-mail address.

This is hackable if you have a Gmail account. Say you have two blogs, blog1 and blog2, and your gmail address is (email visible only to moderators and staff). Then you can register blog1 using the address (email visible only to moderators and staff) and blog2 using (email visible only to moderators and staff). Email from both will go to the same account, no problems.

Also, I assume you could make a multi-user blog using your second account, then post to it with your first account.

thanks for all that. i guess i’ll just wait until they allow you to admin more than one for what i want to use it for. i do have another email address i can use, so we’ll see. thanks for the help.

I figured out another way. I have alias capabilities with my mac so I just went ahead and did that, while still receiving the email to the same address. Works well.

That is if your mail server supports it. :)

Not all do, especially the free email hosts. (My Exim’s do but I don’t tell people unless they ask.)

If you create the second blog with a different email address, you can add your first account as an administrator. After that you can fully control both blogs with the one login account. (Seems to work fine, I just tried it myself.)

Thanks. I think the wordpress authorities should clarify this as it is a very fundamental issue. Supposing tommorow, they allow this. It maynot be possible to import all over again. WordPress has so many excellent facilities. I can’t understand why this basic feature is not there.I wonder why it is not given in the frequently asked questions(FAQ)?
Looking at the alternative, how does one include the first account as an administrator. Please clarify.

Just add your first user as Administrator.

Thank you. I would appreciate further if you told me the specific location where this particular issue is mentioned. Thanks again.

OK, but that’s not what I need, really.
I wasn’t sure what to fill in back then either, and now I’m stuck with the title of my blog as a username, which is a bore when commenting on some blogs.
So I don’t want another blog, I want another username.
Is there really, really never going to be an option to change that?
I dont really need my URL to change (that’s OK for now), but this is really annoying.
    Regards, Napfisk (not nodependenciesnologo!)
