How do I add a simple meta tag to my home page?

Can someone please tell me in simple terms how to add a meta tag to my home page. I dont know how to access it to insert the tag. Thanks.

Short answer is you cannot and you needn’t – metatags are practically obsolete. WP automatically creates your blog’s sitemap, and that’s the best thing for search engines.
