How do I add About section to blog heading? And other sections?

How do I add an “About” tab and other tabs to the heading of my blog? I want to create a link that says “About me/Bio” and then when you click on the link/tab, some more text appears…and then I want to create other sections also, “Contact me,” and “Articles I’ve published, etc.” and when you click on the tabs, you see my articles….kindly explain. Happy new year to all!

Thanks. I went through all the topics but maybe my theme does not support this. I even watched the video http://wordpress.tv/2009/01/14/adding-an-about-me-or-any-other-static-page/
but what I see on my end is different than in the video. Maybe my theme because it’s free won’t allow it. I wish a moderator would step in and help. Thanks again. -
Your blog is private. We Volunteers cannot see it so helping you is like working in the dark with blinders on. Exactly which theme are you using? Note that the Pages entry I linked to here http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ applies to every theme we have here at WordPress>COM.

Moderators cannot see into private blogs either. This is not rocket science and does not require Staff intervention. Please just make the blog public and we will work from there http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/

Thanks so much. In the demo video I watched, once you add a page, which I did, there is a drop down menu saying parent, etc…on my end, there is no menu. All I see is default, links, archives, one column. I don’t see what the guy shows us in the video. Basically I want to have an “About me/Bio” tab and when you click on it you see the text. I apologize that it’s private. Your information was so helpful and I thank you again–you’re great.

I have never watched the video and for all I know it could only apply to WordPress.org installs. In fact I was here answering questions for years before the Staff who made the video even worked here
I can create Pages so fast that it would make your head spin. Please make the blog visibility public.

Thanks, Time Thief…does the staff contact me directly or do I contact them? I’ve tried changing my theme four times and read someplace that certain themes do not allow you to add header sections you can click on to reveal text. So maybe I have to just pay for one. Thanks and let me know if I should contact staff support directly. Too bad not everyone is a tech whiz like you.

Thanks for your patience! Timethief is correct – you can make pages on any WordPress blog! But it sounds to me that you’d like a Custom Menu.
First, thought, you will need to make the appropriate pages :) It looks like you have one – an About Me. If that’s all you want, that’s fine! You will need to make that page public, however.
So here are the instructions step-by-step:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/What you’ll need to do is navigate to your Dashboard > Appearance > Menus
I see you’ve already named a menu, so you’re well on your way!
Now, scroll down a little and select the pages you want to add (About me)
Click “add to menu”
Then click “Save Menu”
From the dropdown menu on the left (Theme Locations), select your menu name and click Save.
You should be all set!
Just let me know if you were asking to do something different.

Thank you so much for your help but I am trying to do something different. Here is what I am trying to do and will make it public if I have to. I want to add at the very top some different sections people can click on like in this photo:
Where it says HOME ABOUT MUSIC TECH. I want to put it at the top either above or below the header of my blog. Are you able to help me? I really, really appreciate it SO much.

I want to do not a dropdown but a link. Someone clicks on ABOUT ME and then it takes them to text…anyway, I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we bloggers create are static ie. they do not automatically update and are for content that rarely changes. Only the dynamic Categories pages created by the software will automatically update.
The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic automatically updating categories pages created by the software into the custom menu.

The instructions I sent you will help you do exactly that!
Remember, you will need your pages not set to private (but your blog overall CAN be set to private) for it to work.
I see you’ve deleted your page, so you’ll have to first create some pages.
Then, go to your Dashboard > Appearance > Menus and create a new custom menu using the link I linked to (and that you also linked to!) and follow the step by step directions there or that I listed below.
Then you should be all set!
