How do I add child pages to my main pages in Chateau Theme
-
Can I have Child Pages in Chateau Theme? I did follow your post for making custom menus, however i saved the menu and nothing shows up on my blog. That being said, is there a way to have the main pages, ie. Cigars, Pipes, Pipe Tobaccos etc. and have the reader be able to view the hierarchy for each page (child pages) or do I just keep on make volumes of pages?

Real child pages are created if you select the right parent from the pulldown in the Pages Attributes module:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/And you don’t need a custom menu for that: the regular menu of the theme will automatically display links to the child pages as dropdowns.
If you do need a custom menu for other reasons, see here:

Justpi,
Bless you 10,000 times over !!
This is exactly what I wanted to see and did not know how to get there! You are a true life saver!!
I would much rather have the drop down boxes from the parent than a menu, I think it is much easier for the reader to get where they want to go than with a menu.
I cannot thank you enough!! -
Hi Justpi,
I just went to the link you sent me and tried to add the child pages as drop downs from the parent pages, now I have created a page title for the child pages however when I went to see how the box looked when it dropped down nothing was there for the child pages. I will keep working with it, as I do want the drop down boxes under the parent page.

Well now I have a problem with the main pages, I added the page “Lighters” while it added it on the blog itself, when I go to add child pages to it, the page “Lighters does not show up in the drop down box for Parents. Lighters will have about 4 children (child pages). Your help will be greatly appreciated. I feel like I am almost there. and should see the answer in front of me.

Which page are you trying to edit? To turn those 4 pages into child pages, you don’t edit “Lighters”, you edit each one of the 4 pages and select “Lighters” as the parent.

I am not editing those 4 pages, I am trying to add “child pages” to lighters like I have all the others. Lighters appears on the blog, however it does not appear in the drop down box on the editor page ?? I have not figured this out yet, worked beautifully on all the others, not this one.
Guess what I did edit the lighters page, did select Lighters as the parent, and it will not add a child page, and while it appears on the blog itself, will not show up in the drop down box on the editor with the rest. -
To create child pages you don’t edit the parent, you edit the pages that need to become children.
