how do I add custom countdown ticker? text widget?

I’ve been trying to add a custom countdown ticker that I’ve generated from another site. I assumed I would have to paste the code the site generates into the text widget but it just shows up as a weird link, the countdown ticker image itself does not show. If the milestone widget worked for me, I’d use that – but unfortunately that does not work either, my item is on January 12, 2015 and the milestone widget says it is one month away, which it’s over 1 month. Please help!

As you note the milestone widget displays number of days only if the interval is less than one month, otherwise it displays number of months.

I’ve tried that first link of timethief, but I can’t get it work. It shows only a blank box on my site kriisitakku.wordpress.com (right navigation panel under Follow blog). How to get it work?

The Gigya shortcode provided at the wpbtips page Widgets for wp.com blogs: 8 – generic countdown timers didn’t work for me either in several tests today. However, I’ve noticed recently that Gigya video codes previously displaying working players in pages or posts on my site are also displaying as blank spaces.

I am sorry the Gigya shortcode did not work for you. It was a workaround and there is no Staff support for any workarounds.
