how do I add email capture to site?

    I want to add a feature to my site for email address capture. Plugins are not allowed (IE plugmatter feature box). Do I need to self host or is there an included feature box that I can use at wordpress.com?

    Hi Brenda,

    You can add a Follow Blog widget to your WordPress.com site, but you wouldn’t be able to add the email capture plugin you need. If this is a necessity for you, it would be best to move to the self-hosted, WordPress.org.

    As for the domain itself, you can keep it registered with us and just point the nameservers to your new host with these steps:

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

    You’ll need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)

    Just note that this means your domain is still registered through us and just hosting elsewhere. So you would need to keep the registration renewed yearly with us in addition to your new host. After 60 days from the date of registration you can transfer out your domain elsewhere (there is a lock placed on newly registered domains as per ICANN rules).
