How do I add iCopyright to the Dynamic Theme?
-
Hi,
I’d like to add the iCopyright plug-in to my blog (www.theharvestmagazine.com). I am running the Dynamic News theme. Can I add this plug-in? It’s normally listed under Admin/Appearance, but it’s not showing up there.
Thanks for your help.

Hello there Kimberly!
Third party plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com sites. This is a security risk as we cannot vet all outside code and it puts our users, their sites, and our servers at risk.
Plugins are only usable on self-hosted WordPress.org sites.
I know the difference between .com and .org can get confusing, so here’s a breakdown of the benefits of each:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Sometimes, even without the installation of a plugin, we can help you gain the function you’d like here at WordPress.com. If you let me know your goals, perhaps I can help further.
Please let me know! Cheers.

Hi there,
Thanks for the explanation. So is there a plugin that is comparable to iCopyright for WordPress.com that I can use on the Dynamic News theme?
Many thanks for your help.
Kim

Hey there, Kim,
Could you explain to me what features of the iCopyright plugin you are hoping to add to your site? I’m not familiar with the plugin, so any leads you can give me, the better!
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Sure (and thanks very much). iCopyright prevents theft of your original copy/content. If you visit my blog at http://www.reportingondisparities.com, and click on any of the headlines, you’ll notice a “republish” and “reprint” buttons. This ensures if someone wants to reprint my reporting elsewhere, that they get permission using the iCopyright process, or that if they want to manipulate/customize my content in some way that they pay a fee, also administered through the iCopyright system. iCopyright prevents a site visitor from copying content also because while one can highlight content on the page, you can’t use the copy or CTRL + C function.
This blog must be on WordPress.org.
Here is more about iCopyright: http://icopyright.com/. And they actually, at least according to them, have a WordPress plugin, but perhaps it’s only for WordPress.org. Here is what they say about their WordPress plugin: http://icopyright.com/wordpress
I really appreciate your help!

Hi Kim!
I took a look at all the information you’ve given me, and it seems as if iCopyright provides a much more sophisticated set of features than we can offer at WordPress.com.
Here is our support document that advises about the prevention of content theft:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/prevent-content-theft/You are right — your other site must be self hosted via WordPress.org. Self-hosting this site might be in necessary, should you want all these features at your fingertips.
The best we can offer is a notice on your site that displays your copyright information. However, your content wouldn’t be protected in the same way it would be with iCopyright.
I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful. If you choose to move your site to WordPress.org, I can send you a guide to walk you through the process.
Let me know how I can help. Thank you!
