How do I add images – the only option I see is 'add via URL' !
-
When I try to upload images to my wordpress.com blog, the only option I see is: “Add via URL”
Is there no option to upload directly to WordPress storage?I used to have a wordpress blog where I could do that. Has WordPress policy changed for blogs that are free of charge to the blogger?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
No, it doesn’t cost anything to upload an image directly to your media library. You can learn how to do so here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/#add%C2%A0single%C2%A0media-items-uploading-images-video-and-audio
Where/how are you trying to upload the image? By URL is just one option. Let us know and we’ll try to help. :)

I saw someone else report a similar thing. They were repeatedly clicking the downwards arrow next to “Add new” in the My Sites/Calypso post editor rather than “Add new” itself which gives you the option to upload an image to the Media Library from your own computer.
Perhaps this also solves the problem you said you were facing here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/if-my-images-are-from-a-url-what-happens-when-that-website-is-taken-down/

That was it. I was assuming that ‘add new’ was the title of the options, not an option in itself. Thanks.
