How do I add list from an excell file

I am trying to learn to design a Library website for our local library as a volunteer, I am not the tech savy , their book list is in excel format
1- which free theme is best for making a local library site
2- how do I import the book list from excel file into itCorrect account: Unknown

Hi! Were you intending to host the website here on WordPress.com? We aren’t really able to give advice for websites which aren’t hosted here; this does include ‘local’ WordPress installations on personal computers.
In general you would likely need to look into some type of library plugin, if the library you’re working for isn’t expected to connect to a centralised system.
We don’t really have any specific recommendations for plugins however; as libraries aren’t our area of focus. You may wish to look for something which allows for a borrow and return system. With regards to themes, they tend to be quite flexible! The recommended themes we offer on WordPress.com are reasonably minimalist, since they use the Site Editor which lets you modify the templates too:

yes and no , yes it will be built on WordPress , but not hosted for its for a local library , I will install Xamp and WordPress on their computer ,
at the moment I am building it on my machine , with Xamp and WordPress Installed I was wondering if you could suggest me some free theme and any suitable plugin , to keep the list of Books , kinda create a catalogue [ which at the moment is in excel format ] , so that visitors could check the catalogue and ask the librarian about it.

To clarify, you are not trying to launch a publicly accessible website? Xamp is a tool for local development of WordPress sites (something that website developers use) and not typically used for a live site.
Is it your intention to not offer a live site, but use WordPress internally, to manage the collections? Do you have examples of other libraries that you are trying to emulate?Thanks for the additional info!

Thank you for your response , yes that is my initial intention , I have been looking at a few plugin but cannot figure out which to use
if successful i may convince the librarian to have it hosted live , i was wondering something like Koha , but simple

I’m not sure we’re really your best point of contact for this! Our forums are oriented towards sites that are hosted here on WordPress.com; but if your library is primarily intending to use the WordPress software locally on their computer then it’s possible that you’ll get more accurate suggestions from the community forums of WordPress.org:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/I had a look to see if I could spot any plugins which do seem to relate to libraries of books (and not just the WordPress media library) but there aren’t too many that I can see. We don’t have any particular recommendations as book libraries aren’t really our area of focus. These were the few that I saw, though I have no guarantee that they’ll do what you need:
