How do I add my wordpress blog to Google?

I have a free blog hosted by wordpress.com. How do I add it to Google’s list of searchable sites? I can add it easily to Bing – they provide a screen to just add a URL – but Google requires you go to webmaster tools, and then you have to upload a file to your site (which of course I can’t do) or you can put in a special meta tag (which I can’t do either).
So what is the solution?

There is no metadata access for us wordpress.COM bloggers and we cannot insert any code into the <header>. This is a multi-user blogging platform. Our blogs share a common architecture. We bloggers cannot access metadata on free hosted WordPress.com blogs. Note http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/seo-on-wordpress-com/

It can take weeks for search engines to index your site content. To gain search engine attention, I recommend that you start publishing posts (not pages) https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ frequently. That’s because search engines have little interest in indexing Pages content. Pages are for static content that rarely changes.
